Today’s older adults expect a broad range of programs, services and educational opportunities. Primeplus (Norfolk Senior Center) classes and activities are designed to be responsive to the needs of the community and will change as the community changes, maintaining a focus on quality, cooperation and community resources.

Health & Wellness

SENIOR DINING PROGRAM
Mondays - Fridays 11:00 - 1:00 p.m.

Primeplus provides healthy meals five days a week delivered from Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia to our kitchen. New Participants in the program must register a week in advance, if you want to be guaranteed a meal. Donations only.


BALLROOM OPEN DANCE
Tuesdays 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.

Join participants as they practice a variety of dance steps, and partner dances which are enjoyed both socially and competitively around the globe. No partner needed. Donation only to partcipate.

CORN HOLE TOSS
Wednesdays 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

This new game is easy to learn & play. It is similar to horseshoes except you use corn hole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes. Donation only.

DANCERCISE
Tuesdays 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Move your way to improved fitness through dance steps that stretch and tone. Join the instructor as she leads this great group through music as they learn line dance steps while exercising. Donation only.

INTERMEDIATE TAI CHI CLASSES
Mondays 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.

Tai Chi Chuan (tai chi) is a centuries-old Chinese system of exercise created to enhance physical, psychological, and spiritual development. Pre-registration is required! Call 625-5857 for more details.

TAI CHI PRACTICE
Fridays 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Practice Tai Chi on your own. You must be a current member to participate.

STRETCH, FLEX AND TONE
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 11:30 -12:30 p.m.

This class helps you improve joint mobility, flexibility, circulation, and muscle strength with exercises that can be modified for chair for those who may have difficulty getting on the floor. Pre-registration is required!

TABLE TENNIS
Mondays 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Fridays 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.

This sport is also known as ping pong and it involve two or four players. This is a great way to improve hand-eye coordination! You must be a member to participate. No experience is required.

YOGA CLASSES
Wednesdays 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.

Yoga is an ancient practice from India that can make you feel harmonious, integrated and complete. The instructor combines integral Yoga with Kundalini Yoga and other methods, designed to help you age gracefully.


HEALTH SERVICES

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING
2nd Wednesday of each month 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.

Over one-half of all Americans age 60 and older have high blood pressure. Keep yours in check! A nurse from Norfolk Public Health will be here every month to check your blood pressure at the center. Free to public.
  
MASSAGE THERAPY APPOINTMENTS
Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Experience the benefits of a relaxing, therapeutic massage. Massages are known to help normalize and improve muscle tone and stimulate circulation, producing therapeutic effects on your respiratory and nervous system. Call in advance for an appointment.
